Sacramental Preparation
First Communion & Reconciliation
Children wishing to celebrate Reconciliation and receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time should normally be at least 7 years of age. The children should ideally be worshipping with us at the 11:00 Sunday Mass.
Since parents play such an integral part in the preparation of thier children for the celebration of these sacraments, it is essential that at least one parent of each child should join us at the orientation meeting to receive instructions as how to get started on the work to be done at home. The time and date of the orientation meeting will soon be anounced. This orientation meeting is for parents only (if you need to bring your child with, there will be a separate room with childcare available) and work will be assigned. Please provide a photocopy of the child's baptismal certificate at the orientation meeting .
To supplement the preparation done at home, there will also be sessions on specific Sundays at the Roosevelplatz, before Mass.
Children and at least one parent should attend the Sunday Assemblies for the whole Community at Rooseveltplatz on:
- September: 16, 23
- October : 7, 21
- (Further dates to be announced)
Indeed, the entire family is invited and encouraged to take part in these Whole Community Catechesis sessions.
Naturally, we expect children who are preparing for Reconciliation and Communion to regularily join us with their parent(s) for 11:00 Mass on Sundays at the Votive Church.
In loving memory of Sr. Beatrice Chaves, Poor Sister of Our Lady, who prepared our children for First Communion for over 25 years, and whom Christ called to himself on June 17, 2001. May she be seated at his banquet table in heaven.
