Classes available include:

• From age 5 up through confirmation class;
• Classes to prepare for the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Reconciliation, as well as Confrimation;
• Post-Confirmation Teen Activity Group (meets once a month); and
• Adult cathechesis (taking place at the same time as the children’s)

Religious education will be held during the following Sundays from 08:45-09:45 (starts promptly):

• September 12 and 19
• October 3 and 17
• November 7 and 21
• December 5 and 12
• January 16 and 23
• February 6 and 27
• March 13 and 20
• April 3 and 10
• May 8 and 15

First day of class will be on Sunday, September 12 at 8:45 a.m. Please report to the coffee hall for room assignments. At the same time, there will also be a mandatory meeting for parents in the coffee hall with the Pastor.

First Holy Communion: May 8, 2010
Confirmation: May 22, 2010 (tentative schedule)

We need and welcome volunteers as catechists, assistant catechists and organizers of the adult catechesis program.

The Parish Council will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, and cevapcici as well as cold soft drinks. You are also asked to contribute to the festivities with donations of food. Below are the types of items that would be needed:

* side dishes
* salads
* Cheese and crackers
* Chips
* Desert, pastries, cakes
* Cookies
* Easy to eat fruits (orange, pear, watermelon?)
* Chocolate bars, candies
* Soft drinks (chilled already)
* Wine (chilled already if white)
* Beer (chilled)
* Bring bottle opener and wine opener

Of course, if you don’t have time to prepare something, we could also use some of the following items:

* Plastic spoons, forks, knives, teaspoons
* Paper plates, large and small size
* Paper juice cups
* Napkins, paper towels
* Cleaning supplies

Just to make sure we have a balanced supply of all things, please contact Margaret Carter (margaretcarter2002@yahoo.com) to coordinate. Please try to do this by Thursday evening so that any necessary shopping can be done on Friday and Saturday.

It is very important that we have a good slate of candidates from all sections of the community if the needs and ideas of all are to be addressed and represented. For this reason, nomination forms have been sent out to all members of the community. You can nominate yourself or anyone else in the community.

To be eligible as a candidate the nominee must satisfy the following criteria:

• Have turned 16 on or before 31st December 2009.
• Be a registered member of the Vienna English-speaking Catholic Community and participate regularly in the life of the Community.
• Openly profess the Church’s teaching on faith and order.
• Have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The original deadline for nominations was Sunday, June 13, 2010. It would be best if you were to scan the signed and accepted nomination form and email (or fax) it to:

10 a.m. Blessing of Branches, Procession and Mass of the Lord’s Passion – St. Francis of Assisi Church

At the entrance we remember that Jesus entered Jerusalem humbly on a donkey. The children received him with loud cries of ‘Hosanna’. They can do that anew at the procession with the branches. Please bring your own palms/pussy willows if possible.

Holy Thursday – APRIL 1

6:30 p.m. Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper (Boltzmanngasse, 9th District)

We begin the Easter Triduum of Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection, with the evening Mass of the Lord’ Supper. This Mass stresses the unity of the Universal Church. After Mass we accompany Jesus to the Garden of Gethsemane and are invited to respond to his invitation to “stay and pray with me for awhile”.

Good Friday – APRIL 2

12:30 Midday – Ecumenical Service at Christ Church

6:30 p.m. – Celebration of the Lord’s Passion, (Boltzmanngasse, 9th District)

This is the one-day of the year on which the Eucharist is not celebrated. However, we gather for the solemn reading of St John’s passion (Ch. 18-19) and in prayer intercede for the needs of the church and the world. We solemnly bend our knees and adore the holy cross: “We worship you, Lord, we venerate your cross, we praise your resurrection. Through the cross you brought life to the world.”

Holy Saturday, The Easter Vigil – APRIL 3

7:30 p.m. – Easter Vigil, (Boltzmanngasse, 9th District)

The Liturgy of Light and Exsultet – Liturgy of the Word – Liturgy of Baptism – renewal baptismal promises – Liturgy of the Eucharist

The Easter Vigil is liturgically the high point of the entire church year. We encourage as many as possible to celebrate this moving liturgy with us. Please try to set aside this evening to be with us. Easter “Agape” (wine and cheese) follows the Service.

Easter Sunday – APRIL 4

10 a.m. – Solemn High Mass, St. Francis of Assisi Church

The Solemnity of the Lord’s Resurrection, Beginning of the Easter Octave

“The Baptism of Jesus” is the subject of the first meditation of the book. Enjoy!

He was the beloved husband of Elisabeth Felling for 33 years and father of four children: Julia, Katharina, Christian and Johannes Felling.

Greg will also be remembered by his five brothers Dennis, Bill, Joe, Paul and John Felling forever.

Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, January 22nd, 2010, at 13.30 at St. Hemmas Funeral Home, 1130 Wien, Wattmanngasse 105.

There will also be a memorial service for Greg on Saturday, January 23rd, 2010, at 15.00 at Votivkirche, 1090 Wien, Rooseveltplatz 8.
